English Old Time Radio.

BBC comedy series, broadcast in 1972, about a gang of labourers building a new motorway. Starring Milo O'Shea, Richard Davies and James Beck; with Bill Pertwee and Richard Caldicott.

Although not exactly a spin-off from the comedy series "Dad's Army", it does feature James Beck and Bill Pertwee from that series. Welsh actor Richard Davies is best known as Mr Price in the television series "Please Sir!", and Richard Caldicott is best known as Captain Povey in the radio comedy series "The Navy Lark".

"The Motorway Men" endured only for a single series of eight programmes in 1972. A ninth edition, the pilot for the series, had previously been broadcast in 1971 as part of the series "Comedy Parade", in which pilots for various potential shows had been tried out.

That series of "Comedy Parade" also gave rise to "Parsley Sidings", another radio show which brought together various actors from the television comedy series "Dad's Army", including Bill Pertwee, who had guest roles in several editions.
